NegotiatedDirector
- My primary career focus is that of film director. I have a strong mix of ambition and perseverance and have my sights set firmly on Hollywood. Your film will be the beneficiary of that tenacity.
- As a director, I am all about telling stories through a concise vision and taking the audience on an emotional journey. When I tackle a story, it's personal, so I give it everything I've got. I expect nothing less from my cast and crew and you should expect nothing less from me.
- I have a wide array of skills in filmmaking that all serve to enhance my directing abilities. As a cinematographer, I know what it means to create images that serve the story. As a sound recordist and designer, I make sure not to neglect the other 50% of the movie experience.
- Most importantly, I have a deep understanding of story structure and how to bring performances to the screen through working with actors to establish characters and believability.
- The director's job encompasses many facets, but at the end of the day what drives me to perform my absolute best is that it is MY NAME up there in the credits, so nothing less than perfection is the goal. After all, my reputation depends on it!
¥ 100,000 / dayCinematographer
- I have been a cinematographer since 2008, shooting a wide range of different cameras across multiple countries.
- As a cinematographer I am involved in the narrative process from the pre-production phase alongside the director, establishing shot selection for narrative intent through storyboarding and location scouting as well as mood, tone and lighting. This includes color grading tests to establish the overall look of the film.
- In the production phase I communicate closely with the director and gaffer to light the production for dramatic effect as well as operating the camera as necessary.
- In post-production I am deeply involved in setting the final color grade of the film to enhance the visual mood and unify the feel of the images across the length of the finished product, be it a film, commercial or music video.
¥ 50,000 / dayCamera Operator
- I am a skilled camera operator, having shot extensively with many different cameras.
- I am very experienced with all positions in a camera team and have operated on multiple productions as the main camera operator.
- I am also a skilled cinematographer. What's the difference, you ask? A cameraman's responsibility is to operate the camera and frame the shots. A cinematographer has a much greater scope for influencing the visuals of the production, such as lighting choices, storyboarding etc.
- If you are unsure about which role you would like me to fill, please contact me and I can help you decide based on your production's individual requirements.
¥ 50,000 / dayFocus Puller / 1st AC
- I am experienced in pulling focus on Super35 sized sensors using PL lenses as well as Canon EF mount lenses.
- I am very experienced with cinema cameras and their associated equipment including tripods, camera accessories, dollies, monitoring systems and much more.
¥ 50,000 / dayStills Photographer
- My passion for beautiful images began with photography before I moved into the motion cinematography world.
- My goal with photography is to make every image tell a story. I prefer to find interesting locations for my photos rather than shoot in a studio.
- I have shot fashion, weddings, corporate and behind-the-scenes photography for movie sets, providing a unique aesthetic that helps the images stand out from the crowd.
- I have also worked with many famous people and am comfortable and professional in high pressure environments.
- You can see a portfolio of my work here.
¥ 50,000 / dayData Wrangler / DIT
- I have many years of experience in handling both celluloid film and digital footage.
- I have supported numerous productions as the Digital Imaging Technician and Data Wrangler on set, providing a secure chain of custody and safe backups of the most important part of production - the visual data.
- I create multiple backups as part of the process and if you are coming from overseas, I maintain a full digital copy of the data until such time as you are safely back home and have transferred the data to your own systems.
- I also maintain security and confidentiality to ensure that the data does not fall into the wrong hands.
¥ 50,000 / daySound Recordist
- I have always had a passion for high quality sound.
- I studied sound recording in film school and have been the sound recordist on numerous productions.
- I also have a firm understanding of the symbiotic relationship between the sound recordist and the camera team, as I am skilled in both jobs.
- As a sound designer and mixer I also know what is required at the acquisition stage to give the post-production team the best possible assets to work with.
Post-production
¥ 50,000 / dayColorist
- Cinema is a visual art form, so it is critical that it look its best in an ever more crowded field. That's where color grading comes in.
- Good color grading not only enhances the feel and emotional flow of a film, it unifies it and allows it to punch above its weight.
- I am highly skilled at taking raw images, both motion and still, and making them look their best (see my demo reel for some examples).
- If you want the teal and orange cookie cutter "look", buy a plugin. If you want actual creative color grading that sets your film apart, give me a call :)
¥ 50,000 / dayEditor
- Common wisdom holds that a movie is made three times - once when writing it, once when shooting it and once when editing it.
- It follows therefore that the editing process is the final chance you get to refine the movie into the product the audience will ultimately judge, so don't let the hard work of writing and shooting go to waste with lackluster editing!
- Good editing is all about finding the emotional core of a story and honing it down to a razor sharp point. It's about rhythm and flow. It is NOT about making a movie fit a predetermined length, or keeping in shots or scenes because they might look good, or cost a lot of money to shoot. If it doesn't serve the story, cut it out.
- I learned to edit using 16mm film, so when I make a cut I am very conscious of why I am selecting that particular frame to cut on; something that is all too often not understood by editors who have only ever used NLEs in the digital domain.
- As a fresh set of eyes I am your last and best defense against what might otherwise end up as a mediocre film (which no one wants after expending all that effort making it in the first place!).
- It is IMPORTANT to have that fresh perspective! If you are the director AND the editor, you need to strongly think about the harm you might be doing to your film....
